The Leonardo DiCaprio-Martin Scorsese mystery-thriller Shutter Island was the top film in North America this weekend, taking in an estimated $22.2 million in its second weekend at #1, bringing its total take to $75 million.

In a second, the Bruce Willis-Tracy Morgan buddy comedy Cop Out debuted with $18.5 million, followed by debut of the survival-horror film The Crazies in third place, which took in$16.5 million.

And in fourth place, James Cameron’s sci-fi epic Avatar earned $14 million and crossed the $700-million mark for the first time (earning $706 million to be exact).

All box office figures are in U.S. dollars and are provided by film studios. Generally speaking, studios earn about 55 percent of a film’s gross.
